doing research for dissertation is making me depressed.

Ive been in Barcelona the last week at a festival. Lovely weather, great music and beautiful city.
Now back to work and removing my display from uni this is what is left; an empty space, some concrete slabs and some sponges.

To Try or to Fail’, Sophie Watkins (2014)

It was a long night but I got it done; Critical Evaluation (which can be read, here) and Professional Practice Module booklet.
Only two full days left of uni and we’re done for the year.
The private view of our end of year exhibition ‘Same but Different’ is this Thursday night, i’ll take pics :)
Happy end of term!

A Critical Evaluation – The Inevitability of Failure.

Often I find that in making art I get frustrated and as a result don’t make anything at all. Little did I know when starting this project, this would prove essential in my work.

***SNEEK PEAKS!***

I rushed into uni after work today and finished setting things up for next weeks show.

I’m showing three pieces in this one and i’m thrilled with the finish on them, these are just a few teaser photos. Will post the rest when editted after work tomorrow!

it’s 2.15 am, but I just finished my labels for next weeks exhibition. I reckon they look shit hot and i’m super excited to put them up on Friday night. Pics to follow.

End of Year Show = New Work.

The only question is, what to call it?

I’m showing several new, much more minimal pieces. Pics soons.

Would it be too much to call an empty space ‘The Inevitability of Cocking Up’?

loads of experiments went down in the studios today. this is the first of 2 automatic paintings and the most successful. the other was white on white and probably filmed for a little too long.

so the general consensus from the burns idea was that i’m an idiot and shouldn’t do that.

i mean to photograph it for upcoming shows, that along side a potential video piece which i’ll hopefully be making on Monday. it was suggested that instead of physically smashing my head into a wall (which would take ages and hurt a lot) i could cut a corner by putting sandpaper on the wall. gonna give it a go and hopefully post the result!
